About The Site

So, how did the site come about? Well, the short answer is that I wanted to learn some new skills and I wanted to apply those skills to a real life project. I've played basketball for many years so a basketball site seemed like the obvious answer. The TBL were interested in a new site so here we are.

Thanks to Dave Carless for the TBL logo. Other than that, all the work has been done by myself, from the database design, to the programming, front end, unit testing, acceptance testing and deployment. There were several resources without which this project would have been considerably more difficult (see below). I would like to thank my girlfriend for putting up with me when I more focused on developing the site than I was on her.

History

I created the first version of the site in 2009 using ASP.NET MVC 1 and Sharp Architecture. In 2010 I added functionality to support player stats. Then in 2011 after that I foolishly decided I wanted to ditch Sharp Architecture and implement everything myself using ASP.NET MVC 3, the Razor view engine, Entity Framework and a bunch of other cool stuff. I'm still not convinced it was a good idea.
